Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Nickolay Mladenov, a Bulgarian diplomat and former UN Middle East envoy, will serve as the director-general for a proposed US-led “board of peace” in Gaza, part of Donald Trump’s 20-point plan aimed at resolving the conflict. The plan, which has resulted in a fragile ceasefire, includes disarming Hamas, establishing an international security force, and rebuilding Gaza. Mladenov has a history of working to ease tensions between Israel and Hamas. Appointments to the board are expected to be announced soon, with several countries involved.
