IRS sending stimulus payments to 1 million people. Here’s who is eligible – NBC Chicago

The IRS is sending special payments of up to $1,400 to 1 million taxpayers who didn’t claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax returns, totaling $2.4 billion, to help those who missed out on COVID stimulus payments. Eligible recipients will receive the money automatically by late January, either by direct deposit or check, without needing to file an amended return. Taxpayers have until April 15, 2025, to claim the credit if they haven’t filed their 2021 tax return yet.
