Iran parliament speaker visits Beirut site of deadliest Israeli strike

Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf denounced Israel’s “crimes” during his visit to the site of deadly Israeli strikes in Beirut, targeting Hezbollah’s security chief Wafiq Safa. The strikes in Basta and Nweiri districts resulted in at least 22 deaths, prompting Ghalibaf to call out international organizations and the UN Security Council for their silence. Ghalibaf also met with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, expressing Iran’s support for the Lebanese government’s efforts towards a ceasefire and indicating Iran’s backing for simultaneous ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon.
