Inuvik Residents Urged to Reduce Energy Use Due to Propane Shortage
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Residents of Inuvik, N.W.T., are urged to conserve energy due to a propane supply shortage linked to adverse weather and road access issues. Inuvik Gas Ltd. has requested that households lower their heating and utilize alternative energy sources as two propane resupply trucks have arrived after the Dempster Highway reopened, only to be closed again later due to blizzard conditions. Mayor Peter Clarkson noted collaboration among government levels to address the shortage amid frigid temperatures of –44 C. Inuvik Gas advises residents to minimize energy use by adjusting heating practices and avoiding energy-intensive activities.
