Canadian-American anti-whaling activist Paul Watson greeted Interpol’s decision with the words: ‘Finally I am free.’

Interpol has lifted its red notice for Paul Watson, the founder of Sea Shepherd, who faced extradition to Japan over a 2010 whaling incident. While his lawyer noted the disproportionate nature of the charges and Denmark’s refusal to extradite him, Watson remains at risk of arrest due to a standing Japanese warrant.
