A pensioner, Dennis Iliffe, was denied a payout for Storm Darragh’s damage to his home by insurers who claimed wind speeds were “2mph too slow”. Despite the 53mph winds causing damage to his property in Kidderminster, his claim was initially rejected. After media coverage, the insurer settled the claim, but Iliffe decided not to renew his policy due to the ordeal.
