Inglewood man shot during catalytic converter theft. Suspects arrested

Two men, Wilver Alberto Rabanales and Jose Christian Saravia Sanchez, have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Juan “Johnny” Sanchez in Inglewood while trying to prevent a catalytic converter theft. Rabanales is held on $2-million bail, while Sanchez’s bail information is not available. Catalytic converter theft is a growing issue in Southern California, with over 2,000 thefts in Los Angeles in the first half of 2024, leading to new laws and police initiatives to combat the problem.
