Lam Research, a US-based semiconductor services company, is making a significant investment of over Rs 10,000 crore in India to support the country’s semiconductor ambitions. This move, announced by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the semiconductor sector, with Lam Research planning to expand its chip fabrication equipment supply chain in India. The investment is part of larger efforts, including the Indian Semiconductor Mission’s approval of five projects worth Rs 76,000 crore, aimed at growing India’s semiconductor market to USD 103.4 billion by 2030.
