In a recent court ruling in New Delhi, the ban on Salman Rushdie’s “The Satanic Verses” in India has been called into question due to missing paperwork, potentially allowing the novel to be imported into the country. The petitioner argued that the ban notification could not be located, leading the court to conclude that no such notification exists, opening the possibility for the novel to be sold in bookstores. Rushdie’s literary agent declined to comment, and the author himself has not publicly responded to the news.
