India flags cricket rights concerns with Disney-Reliance $8.5 bln merger

India’s antitrust body has preliminarily determined that the $8.5 billion merger of Reliance and Walt Disney media assets poses a threat to competition, particularly in relation to their control over cricket broadcast rights. This finding represents a significant obstacle to the proposed Disney-Reliance merger, which aims to establish the largest entertainment entity in India with a total of 120 TV channels.
