India was ranked among the top ten countries most affected by climate-related extreme weather events between 1993 and 2022, with over 400 events causing nearly USD 180 billion in losses and 80,000 fatalities. The impact was primarily due to recurring floods, heatwaves, and cyclones, displacing millions and damaging agriculture. The report highlighted the urgent need for more adaptation finance for countries in the Global South to address escalating climate challenges and intensifying extreme weather events.
