IED bomb thrown at police near Zohran Mamdani’s home could have caused serious harm

Two men, Emir Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi, were arrested after a homemade explosive device was thrown during a protest organized by far-right activist Jake Lang outside New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s residence. The NYPD confirmed the device was an improvised explosive that could have caused serious harm. The incident occurred amid tensions between anti-Islam protesters and a counterprotest, with police also arresting individuals for using pepper spray and disorderly conduct.
