An Auckland man, Russell Falani Junior Toleafoa, who is already serving time for shooting a stranger, received an additional six-month sentence for attempting to smuggle cocaine into Pāremoremo prison. CCTV footage captured the 24-year-old during a visit in May 2024, where associates passed him drugs under the table. Toleafoa concealed the items in his clothing. His actions led to the extension of his prison term.
