Hudson, Que. Family Medicine Clinic to Close Due to Bill 2

A family medicine clinic in Hudson, Quebec, will close on April 1 due to the implementation of the controversial Bill 2, which pressures doctors to provide “unsafe care” by tying their salaries to performance metrics. The Hudson Medical Centre, serving about 11,000 patients, primarily English speakers, is the only bilingual GMF in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region. Three of its seven doctors are leaving the province in response to the law. Premier François Legault has resumed negotiations with family doctors, but clinic co-owner Dr. Tara McCarty stated that only a suspension of the law would change the clinic’s fate.
