Hong Kong’s high court sentenced Ng Chi-hung to 23 years and 10 months in prison for masterminding a plot to attack police with explosives during the 2019 protests, while another defendant, Wong Chun-keung, received 13 years and six months. Five others were also sentenced for various offenses related to firearms and explosives. This marks the first use of the U.N. anti-terrorism ordinance in Hong Kong since 2002, with the judge describing the plan as premeditated and a “declaration of war on society.”
