The Hollywood Hills were engulfed in the worst wildfires in Los Angeles history, with a crescent of flames visible from space. At least six wildfires were burning in Los Angeles County, killing five people and forcing 130,000 people to evacuate as the blaze destroyed homes of movie stars and celebrities, including Mandy Moore, Cary Elwes, and Paris Hilton. Hollywood studios halted production, Universal Studios closed its theme park, and schools, including Palisades Charter High School, were damaged or destroyed, with the University of California, Los Angeles cancelling classes for the week.
