A 20-year-old Florida State University student, Phoenix Ikner, opened fire on the Tallahassee campus, resulting in two fatalities and at least six injuries, before being shot by police. Court records reveal a long custody battle between Ikner’s birth parents, Anne-Mari Eriksen and Christopher Ikner, which spanned from 2007 to 2023, with the weapon used in the shooting belonging to Ikner’s stepmother, a deputy sheriff. Former schoolmates noted that he had previously gone by “Christian Eriksen” and had been in both regular and special education classes during middle school.
