A study by Durham University found that rugby players with five or more concussions were almost twice as likely to experience mental health issues. Recent research from Oxford, Tufts, and Manchester suggests that head injuries may reactivate a virus in the brain, potentially leading to dementia. While this study was done on brain models and not humans, it highlights the importance of understanding the link between head injuries and dementia for early intervention and prevention.
