The Bombay High Court suspended gangster Chhota Rajan’s life sentence in the 2001 murder case of hotelier Jaya Shetty and granted him bail, requiring a bond of Rs one lakh. Rajan remains in jail for other criminal cases. Rajan appealed against his conviction, after being found guilty of Shetty’s murder, where it was revealed that Shetty was killed for failing to pay extortion money demanded by a member of Rajan’s gang.
