Gunmen killed at least 50 people and abducted women and children in an overnight assault on Tungan Dutse village in Zamfara State, Nigeria. The attackers arrived on motorcycles, setting fire to buildings and abducting residents. The number of people abducted is still unclear as local officials compile lists of the missing. Overlapping security threats continue to plague Nigeria’s north and west regions, with international involvement increasing, including expanded security cooperation with the United States.
