Ten groups have submitted bids to the NFL to invest in new women’s and men’s professional flag football leagues, with bids closing soon. Investors include Alexis Ohanian’s 776, TKO Group Holdings, Avenue Capital Group, Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz, Connect Ventures, and SMAC Entertainment. The NFL sees flag football as a way to attract new fans, support its inclusion in the Olympics in 2028, and promote growth in the sport, with increasing participation numbers among girls and NFL-sponsored leagues across the country.
