A new a capella-style singing group called Singing Mamas has been established in Wellard by vocal coach Nicole George, inspired by the UK’s Singing Mamas Organisation, to provide support and community for local mothers. The group meets every Wednesday morning at the John Wellard Community Centre, sponsored by the City of Kwinana, offering a safe space for women to share their feelings and make joyful noise while singing positive affirmations and uplifting lyrics. Recognizing the challenges of motherhood, George believes group singing can help regulate the nervous system and reduce symptoms of post-natal depression, with Mayor Peter Feasey expressing the city’s support for the program as a means to foster connections, build friendships, and provide valuable support to mothers in the area.
