A gang in Birmingham used the dating app Grindr to lure four men to parks, where they were violently attacked and robbed, resulting in £100,000 stolen over 10 months. Demalji Hadza, Abubaker Alezawy, Ali Hassan, Wasim Omar, and Mohammed Sharif were sentenced to nearly 80 years combined for their crimes, with sentences ranging from 12 to 17 years. The robbers targeted victims on Grindr, forcing them to hand over bank details and large transactions, and were found guilty after a six-week trial in September 2024.
