Memorabilia from legendary Canadian musician Gordon Lightfoot’s estate was auctioned today in Toronto by A.H. Wilkens, attracting significant interest from both Canadian and international bidders. Highlights included his performance guitar, which sold for $380,000, a vintage tiger rug that fetched $3,600, and various personal items and photographs. Proceeds will support the estate and the Orillia Museum of Art & History, which features an exhibition on Lightfoot. The auction coincided with the 50th anniversary of the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald sinking, a tragedy immortalized in Lightfoot’s song.
