Google Settlement
Google has agreed to a $68 million settlement to resolve a class-action lawsuit alleging its voice assistant illegally recorded users without consent and shared these conversations with advertisers. The lawsuit, filed by Google device owners, claimed that recordings occurred even without using the activation phrase. If approved by U.S. District Judge Beth Labson Freeman, consumers can submit claims for up to three devices, with payments dependent on the total claims submitted. This agreement follows a similar case involving Apple’s Siri, which resulted in payments to affected users.
