Google Restores Nextcloud Users' File Access on Android

Nextcloud, a self-hosted cloud platform, faced challenges when its Android users were unable to upload files due to restrictions imposed by Google’s Play Store. After months of communication, Google agreed to restore full file access permissions as of May 15, prompting Nextcloud to prepare a test release. The company, which has over 800,000 Android users, criticized Big Tech for gatekeeping smaller vendors, highlighting their role in an antitrust movement against Microsoft, which they accused of stifling competition.
