Actor Buddy Duress, known for his roles in “Heaven Knows What” and “Good Time” alongside Robert Pattinson, has passed away at the age of 38.
His brother Christopher Stathis confirmed Duress’ death, revealing that he died in November 2023 due to cardiac arrest from a drug overdose.
Duress, a Queens native, started his acting career in 2014 with “Heaven Knows What” shortly after being released from Rikers Island for drug-related charges.
He had appeared in several films such as “Funny Pages,” “Flinch,” “Beware of Dog,” and “The Mountain.” Duress had two upcoming projects titled “Skull” and “Mass State Lottery.”
Despite his talent, Duress faced legal troubles and had been in and out of jail multiple times for various charges including heroin possession and identity theft.
In 2019, comedian Pete Davidson wanted Duress to audition for a film directed by Judd Apatow, but Duress was unable to due to his incarceration.
Director Dustin Guy Defa cast Duress in “Person To Person” after auditioning him at Rikers, where Duress expressed his desire to focus on his acting career and leave his troubled past behind.
Survived by his mother Jo-Anne and brother Christopher, Duress had a passion for acting and was determined to make a mark in Hollywood, leaving his troubled past behind.
