Researchers in Singapore have discovered subsurface temperatures of 122 degrees Celsius at a depth of 1.76km near Sembawang Hot Spring, surpassing previous records and marking a significant milestone in geothermal exploration. This finding, part of a national study, could lead to harnessing geothermal energy, which may play a crucial role in Singapore’s transition towards renewable energy and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
