Mr. Abed was relieved when Israelis brought Red Crescent paramedic Asaad al-Nasasra, still alive, to the detainees. Al-Nasasra whispered about wounded colleagues and soldiers mocking them before being led away. After being asked to help evacuate civilians, Dr. al-Bardawil and Mr. Abed were released, leaving Mr. Abed injured but safe with the Red Crescent.
