Gaza food markets ‘in decay’ as starvation looms

In northern Gaza, markets are in decay with food scarcity and record-high prices, while UN aid access is being denied amid ongoing Israeli strikes and displacement of over 130,000 people. In Lebanon, Israeli airstrikes have killed over 240 people, including children, and destroyed homes, with UNICEF appealing for protection of children and healthcare providers facing attacks. UNIFIL peacekeepers have also been targeted, and health facilities are being disrupted, with WHO reporting deaths and injuries among health workers since mid-September 2024.
