A group has offered a home for surviving family members of two Detroit children who died in a cold van in a casino parking garage. The children, ages 9 and 2, were among five children and two adults in the van that stopped producing heat in freezing temperatures on Feb. 10. Mayor Mike Duggan has requested a report on the city’s interactions with the family, while a local group has stepped forward to pay rent for a year to house the family, offering support beyond the funeral.
