General Motors will be banned for five years from disclosing data collected from drivers to consumer reporting agencies as part of a settlement with the government. The FTC alleged that GM used a misleading enrollment process for OnStar services and failed to disclose that it would sell data on precise location and driving behavior. GM acknowledged the settlement and discontinued its Smart Driver offering, ending third-party telematics relationships and unenrolling all customers.
