Friends relish ‘bucket-list’ battle on opposing sides of women’s Boat Race

Heidi Long and Claire Collins, who have previously competed against each other in international regattas, describe the University Boat Race as a “bucket-list event” as they prepare to race on Sunday, reuniting on the Thames after last meeting in Paris. Both targeting the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, the two athletes have shared parallel lives on and off the water, forming a friendly rivalry amidst the competitive nature of the event which has seen significant changes towards gender parity in sport during their careers.
