Fresh evacuations ordered as fires continue to burn out of control in Chapple Vale and Kadnook

Fresh evacuations were ordered in western Victoria as firefighters battle two out-of-control fires, with a “leave now” alert in place for Yuulong and warnings for Chetwynd and Kadnook. The fires have already claimed one home in Kadnook and significant damage to two others, with emergency services remaining in the area. Severe storms in the north-east of the state have resulted in over 200 calls for help to the SES, with challenging conditions expected for firefighters due to hail and lightning.
