A judge has ordered Arif Patel, a 57-year-old fraudster living in Dubai, to forfeit his £90m property empire and Ferrari following his conviction for one of the UK’s largest carousel tax frauds. Patel, alongside co-accused Mohamed Jaffer Ali, was sentenced in absentia to 31 years in prison for crimes involving fraudulent VAT claims and counterfeit goods.
