Australian Test cricketer and commentator Michael Slater has been taken into custody following his arrest on eight charges, including assault and breaching bail.
The 54-year-old is facing charges of assault occasioning bodily harm, strangulation, unlawful stalking, breaking into a dwelling at night, and four counts of common assault.
Mr. Slater’s case was briefly heard on Monday in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
He was not present, and no plea was entered.
Duty lawyer Michael Robinson informed the court that inquiries would be made about a rehabilitation facility.
Mr. Slater remains in custody, and the case has been adjourned until Tuesday when a bail application is anticipated.
The former cricketer played in 74 Test matches and 42 one-day internationals for Australia, making his Test debut in 1993.
