British actress Gemma Arterton disagrees with the idea of a gender-swapped James Bond, deeming it “outrageous” and stating that the character’s legacy should be respected. Despite discussions surrounding potential changes to the franchise following Daniel Craig’s final film as Bond, Arterton, who played Strawberry Fields in a previous Bond movie, believes that creating strong female characters in new roles is more important than altering existing male characters like James Bond. Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has expressed openness to diverse casting choices, such as having a different race or identifying as non-binary, but has ruled out the idea of a female James Bond.
