Professional soccer player Sam Kerr and her partner Kristie Mewis were arrested for racially abusing a London police officer, Stephen Lovell, in January 2023. The incident occurred after a dispute with a taxi driver, which led to Kerr calling the officer “f—ing stupid and white” on video footage shown in court. Kerr has pleaded not guilty, claiming her comments were not racially motivated, and the trial is ongoing with Kerr expected to give evidence.
