The region currently has 3.4 million people facing “emergency levels of hunger,” a 70% increase since the summer, with the situation exacerbated by ongoing conflicts and natural disasters. The WFP emphasizes the need for timely funding, preparedness, and resilience-building to break the “vicious cycle of hunger” affecting nearly one in ten people in the region.
