Man shot and killed by Florida sheriff’s deputies in confrontation after apparent alligator attack

On Monday, Polk County sheriff’s deputies shot and killed 42-year-old Timothy Schulz, who was believed to be under the influence of drugs, after he brandished garden shears and attempted to gain access to their patrol vehicle. Schulz had reportedly been acting erratically, swimming in a lake with alligators and was bitten by one before confronting the deputies. Despite attempts to de-escalate the situation with a Taser, deputies opened fire when Schulz threatened them, and the incident is currently under investigation with the deputies on administrative leave.
