A man named Richard Barry Randolph, 63, is scheduled for execution on Thursday evening at Florida State Prison for the 1988 rape and murder of his former manager, Minnie Ruth McCollum. Convicted in 1989 of murder, armed robbery, and sexual battery, Randolph’s execution will mark Florida’s 17th this year, setting a state record. Despite appeals to the Florida and U.S. Supreme Courts, his legal options have been exhausted. Two additional executions are planned in December, as Florida leads the nation in executions this year.
