Russian and Belarusian athletes will now be allowed to compete under their national flags at international swimming and aquatic sports events, following a decision by World Aquatics to lift previous participation restrictions. This change follows a gradual easing of limits that began in September 2023, allowing athletes from these countries to compete as neutrals. To participate, athletes must pass at least four consecutive anti-doping tests. The next world swimming championships are scheduled for 2027 in Budapest.
