A significant fire erupted in the central hall of Hudson’s St. James Anglican Church on Sunday morning, causing extensive damage to the building from both the fire and the water used to extinguish it.

Assisting departments included Coteau-du-Lac, L’Île-Perrot, Ste-Marthe, St-Lazare, Pincourt, Rigaud, Terrasse-Vaudreuil, and Vaudreuil-Dorion.
Hudson Mayor Chloe Hutchison showed her solidarity with the church’s congregation and Hudson residents on social media while firefighters continued to battle the blaze.
Mayor Hutchison stated, “We have been in contact with Reverend Sophie Rolland, and the message is one of positivity. Despite the fire’s extent today, there is a commitment to rebuild and reopen this cherished place of heritage and community love.”
Stressing Reverend Sophie’s dedication and the congregation’s support, Mayor Hutchison expressed confidence in overcoming this tragic event.
Brunet assured residents in Hudson’s center that their tap water might appear discolored temporarily due to firefighting activities but remained safe for consumption.
He mentioned, “It will return to normal soon after the firefighting operations conclude.”
