Finnish authorities discovered a 60-mile-long anchor drag mark on the seafloor off Porkkalanniemi, Kirkkonummi, in the Gulf of Finland, linked to a Russia-affiliated vessel, the oil tanker Eagle S. The vessel, part of Russia’s “shadow fleet,” was seized by Finland for investigation after a severed undersea power cable connecting Finland and Estonia was damaged. This incident is part of a series of incidents raising concerns about Russia’s sabotage of European infrastructure in response to EU support for Ukraine. NATO has promised more military reinforcement in the Baltic Sea.
