Finland Police Seize Vessel Linked to Baltic Sea Cable Damage
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Finnish police have detained the cargo vessel Fitburg, suspected of damaging an undersea telecoms cable between Helsinki and Tallinn. The ship, which had left Russia for Israel, was found dragging its anchor in Finnish waters. Authorities are investigating the incident as aggravated criminal damage and interference with telecommunications. This action comes amid heightened tensions and increased NATO presence in the Baltic Sea following disruptions to critical infrastructure since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
