Director Rashid Masharawi’s latest film “Passing Dreams” follows a Palestinian boy and his family on a road trip through refugee camps and Israeli checkpoints in search of his lost pet pigeon. The journey becomes a symbolic exploration of displacement and the longing for home, reflecting the family’s history of displacement from Haifa during the Nakba. Masharawi, a Cannes Film Festival-selected director, also showcased the anthology “From Ground Zero” at the Cairo International Film Festival, highlighting the struggles of filmmakers in Gaza and calling for Palestinian cinema to be proactive in telling their own stories.
