In “Sinners,” directed by Ryan Coogler, brothers Smoke and Stack, played by Michael B. Jordan, return to Clarksdale, Mississippi, in 1932 to establish a juke joint while contending with vampires, introduced midway through the film. The narrative intertwines elements of music and horror, featuring a strong score by Ludwig Grandson and notable performances, including Wunmi Wosaku as Annie, who knows how to combat the vampires. Coogler’s first non-franchise film since “Fruitvale Station,” “Sinners” is visually stunning and best experienced on the largest screen available.
