U.S. Job Market Update
Applications for unemployment benefits fell by 6,000 to 216,000 for the week ending Nov. 22, indicating low layoffs despite job cuts from major companies like UPS and Amazon. The four-week average of claims also decreased to 223,750. Although hiring showed slight improvement in September, the unemployment rate rose to 4.4%, reflecting a challenging job market for the unemployed. Economic data suggests slowing growth and inflation, raising expectations for a potential interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve.
