A father and son, Colin (54) and Lee Bartlett (30), were apprehended while attempting to smuggle over £20 million worth of heroin concealed in a shipment of pomegranate juice from Afghanistan. The duo, part of an organized crime group, had a fake company set up to facilitate the import of 2.6 tonnes of juice containing more than 420kg of heroin. Colin received a 24-month suspended sentence, while Lee was sentenced to 18 months suspended for two months. Authorities are seeking two additional suspects, Shamut Khan and Matiullah Zamankhel, who failed to comply with bail conditions.
