Eight sky divers safely exited a light plane shortly before it crashed near Moruya Airport, resulting in the death of experienced pilot Paul Smith. The 54-year-old, well-respected in the community and awarded for his contributions to parachuting, was the only occupant remaining in the aircraft; investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
